Listen to Learn Conference 2009
Verbal therapists, workshops and discussions all in the name of
listening.
On Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th
September 2009, the Listening to Learn Conference is making its way
to the Hilton Newcastle, Gateshead.
The event, hosted by North East Cochlear Implant Programme, has
been designed to reflect the feedback from our enthusiastic
participants from previous years. Presentations and workshops will
focus on the development of practical skills, discussions and hands
on experience with materials including:

The conference will also have the participation of Certified
Auditory Verbal Therapists:
Kathryn Wilson MA, CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT®
USA - Kathryn, director of the Resource Support
Program - Education Services for the North Carolina Department of
Health and Human Services, is a speech-language pathologist,
teacher of the deaf, and certified auditory verbal therapist with
30 years of experience.
Jacqueline Stokes BEd, DipTEFL, MSc, LSLS Cert.
AVT® Oxford - Director of AVUK, a national charity
dedicated to service delivery and training in AVT. Jacqueline, in
conjunction with AVUK and Aston University, has developed Europe's
first post-graduate diploma course in AVT.
Elizabeth Tyszkiewicz BA (Hons), PGCE,
Cert.TOD, MSc, Cert. AVT® Birmingham - Experienced
in Cochlear Implant fitting and use in children aged 0 to 10.
Elizabeth has been involved in working with children with hearing
impairment for over 15 years, and certified as an Auditory Verbal
Therapist in 2002.
Lise Henderson BSc, LSLS, Cert. AVT®
Manchester - Graduated as a Speech & Language
Therapist in 1985 and developed her interest in hearing impairment
in 1995, moving to Manchester. She has served on the BCIG for 3
years and became a cert AVT in the summer of 2003.
